My Take on River Cruising!

Updated: Sep 13, 2022

Back in 2019, I was lucky enough to experience an amazing week on board "The A" Uniworld Ship.

River cruising was so much more than expected.

We boarded the sleek black ship in Budapest - it's hard to miss as it's the only one like it on the Danube.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and quirkeness of the ship. It is very modern, rooms are small but comfortable, and we had a French balcony room (which means you can open up the sliding door but you can't physically sit on a balcony).

In terms of demographics, it is quite varied and probably not quite what we thought it would be, we were one of the youngest on the ship, which proves in the coming week that age isn't a problem at all.

Capacity is around 120 which makes it relatively easy to get to know and recognise most people on board.

Life on board - there is a beautiful top deck with lounges and sun chairs and in the middle a bar which is only open in the evening.

Then there is the "A lounge" which is the main place to chill, dance to the dj, talk with new friends, play board games, and of course the main bar.

I don't even know where to start with the food, breakfast and dinner are included daily and while I had the thought of "just another buffet", every single meal was amazing, and my own omelettes will never be the same.

There is so much variety, flavours and something for everyone, and they will always try and incorporate local dishes.

In every destination there are included activities, and then a choice of optional activities too which are an extra cost.

In summary - it is a very "cruisy" way to travel, you only have to unpack once, don't have to worry about where to eat, and get to see epic places along the way.
